Sustainability Highlights

  • Our sustainability strategy

Our sustainability strategy is embedded in our corporate strategy and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Protecting the Turtles

In Ilocos Norte, where marine turtles lay eggs and nest, the dangers of poaching and smuggling of the eggs have significantly decreased. Through awareness campaigns and continuous trainings, the local community now acts as guardians of the endangered species, becoming partners of AC Energy in turtle conservation.

  • Birds of the Conservation Estate

The 700-hectare Conservation Estate of AC Energy in Ilocos Norte is now home to 117 species of birds, 33 of which are endemic, and four classified as vulnerable. The company's wind farms, North Luzon Renewables and NorthWind, with the help of the locals, all work together to preserve biodiversity.

  • Piloting Circular Approach

In Alaminos and Palauig, a total of 32,540 kg of plastic waste from solar panel packaging have been recycled into eco bricks to be used as construction materials for solar plant facilities as AC Energy aims to "close the loop" in its project locations.

  • Capacity Building

The forests of Pagudpud were once an area for hunting and lumber. Through AC Energy’s agroforestry program, local residents learned how to nurture forest for harvest of fruit and vegetables and sustainable farming techniques such as contour hedgerow and watershed systems.
