North Luzon Renewables’ Reforestation Program started in 2014 with a three-year plan to produce 457,080 seedlings and plant 380,900 of these in an area of about 323 hectares alongside North Luzon’s wind farm. These seedlings are procured from Barangay Caparispisan through a community-based seedling production project. This generated several livelihood opportunities for 379 locals who now work as plant nursery personnel, forest protection guards, reforestation maintenance and stockyard workers, and civil works personnel.

The program allows cement producer Lafarge to collect the ash generated from the combustion of coal and translates the price “paid” for these into credits for Physical cement products from Lafarge. GNPower Mariveles makes the cement products available to the Province of Bataan via delivery of the product to the actual site of public works projects in the province, such as hospitals and other community facilities.
